A motivational conference for three thousand attendees.
Eric Jones, can wow the socks off of America’s got Talent host, Brian Cowell. He sure left me barefoot!
A short time ago, Trustmark-Globetrotters pulled together a great show of contestants from America’s Got Talent. Eric Jones, Taylor Mason, Evie, Deadly Games and myself entertained their annual gathering in Maui, Hawaii. We had the privilege of putting on a show for this elite group of financial professionals. It was a smaller group than usual for me. But they could not have been a more enthusiastic and appreciative audience.
The Magic of Illusion, Puppetry and Song
In the past, I have done a bit of close up illusions for a children’s Sunday School class. Eric Jones is in a class of his own. He can almost convince you that what he does is water to wine, miraculous. Taylor Mason, AGT ventriloquist and puppet master, worked his magic as Host, MC. He kept the evening rolling along and everyone laughing. Evie touched hearts with lovely songs. Dangerous Games' whip-cracking, knife-throwing, death-defying stunts pulled everyone to their feet.
My Craft Is Story Written in Sand
I tell stories in the Sand. It does not have any life threatening element. But it worked great for the intimate setting that the Globetrotters provided. But what do you do to inspire 3000 attendees at the ADP annual convention, “Inspire your Tomorrows?”
A Magical Event
Three days later, I was slated for an event at the Hilton Bonnet Creek, near Magic Kingdom. Paul Creighton, of T. Skorman productions, pulled together a team of incredibly creative people. They dreamed up an event that would inspire Mickey Mouse himself. Assisted by the folks at “Hello Florida” it came off as a one-of-a-kind show. They captured the Magic of an Underwater/Ocean theme. The Motivation of powerful visuals, graphics and music. And the Miraculous efficiency of the Hilton staff. They managed to house, feed, snack, entertain and transport all 3000 attendees.
The element that thrilled me the most was an LED wall that ran 100 feet. The full width of the Hyatt, Ballroom. That is where my Magic, Motivation and Miracles appear.
Making of the Magic
My part in this triple ‘M’ event, if you have never attended one, starts with a story. That story, crafted by the creative team and myself, tells the ADP story. (How to craft a custom SandStory for your event video). I sketch out a thumbnail storyboard for approval. Then I go to work in my studio. I select the music, the hand choreography, and the images that flow out of it. The rehearsal hours make the images appear like Magic under my fingers. The stories I tell between the sand images tie it together. The combination is nothing short of a Miracle. Standing ovations are not uncommon. It is not unusual to have people come up after the show and say it brought tears to their eyes.
Enthusiasm For Magical Artforms
Because I am easily recognized, the overflow of enthusiastic comments begin backstage. They continue with hotel staff, attendees and conference workers. As I pack up and carry my equipment through the lobby, the accolades are repeated. Often even at the airport and on the plane as I am headed home. There is no other art form that I know of that provides that much enthusiastic response.
A Magical Place
Orlando has been home to dozens of my performances. Events ranging from indoors to outdoors, large to small. From custom to non-custom, live music to prerecorded, corporate to private, fund raisers to trade shows, profit to non-profit, in as many categories as you can imagine. Insurance, financial, pharmaceutical, Auto shows, sports teams, hospitals, hotels and home-shows. Orlando is a perfect place for any kind of event. With over 70,000 available hotel rooms and weather that almost always cooperates, Orlando is an amazing place for any event. Not just because of the venues for any size group, super shopping and of course the entertainment. Visitors tell stories of romantic getaways, family excursions, guy trips, girls weekends, and happy times. They project a special aura of Orlando that conjures up magical times.
The ADP event in Orlando went off without a hitch and the Magic, Motivation and Miracles abounded. Thanks to ADP, Paul Skorman, Hello Florida, and thanks Orlando.
